 Margaret Sugar

Welcome to Margaret Sugar's website. This is a celebration of Margie's life & impact on so many people over the years.

On August 8th, Margie was diagnosed with an aggressive, rare (poorly-differentiated neuroendocrine) cancer which ended her life on October 14th. Margie remained positive and content through her illness. Realistic about not fighting it, instead she continued to connect with her many friends and family, setting another example on how to live our own lives in the face of adversity, with serenity & peace.

Margie lived her life large, set a model for us all, and we should cherish our time with her. Feel free to browse all the blogs, look at some photos, or enter your brief comments, or longer remembrances.

Hiking & Then Kicked Out!

P1016281Kim, River & I headed out Saturday for a weekend backpack up around Buffalo mountain above Frisco.  Just a few miles from the ugly mass of neuvo-condos is a wonderland of the rugged Gore Range. We saw a buck and fawn, heard a pack of coyotes just outside the tent (River's musk gland, something we're normally not aware of, became very evident), saw a herd of big horn sheep (or mountain goats?) in the distance, and enjoyed lots of flowers, dips in cold lakes, and wondrous views of mighty mountains.

P1016324.cropped When we returned, Anne told us that Mom was feeling so good that not only had she returned to her old habits, she wanted her independence. She kicked out her caregivers for the next several weeks!

Feeling her oats, she went on a double date with Mac & friends, and then last night headed out to a dance apparently!

So while Margie still is losing significant weight, she is currently pain free and enjoying life on her own at home and socializing with friends. While we all want to help out, there frankly is not too much we need to help Margie with - aside from some driving. Personally, I suspect Mom P1016297.croppedhated how much we all messed up the order and cleanliness of her condo!

This was great news to return to. After being here for about 9 days, Kim leaves this afternoon and I'm getting caught up on my blog updates. (Several folks have asked for more current content, so I've been able to retroactively put up some postdated blogs this morning.)
