Dear John,

Peter & Anne have wanted Isie's coffee cake recipe & perhaps the cheese cracker recipe I'm sending you now is the one you asked for. I hope so!

Isie's Coffee Cake

1 T baking powder

3/4 c white sugar

1 t vanilla

1 egg

Beat egg, then add sugar & butter.

Add flour & the rest of the ingredients.

Don't beat too much-makes dough tough.

Streusel:

1/2 c brown sugar

2 t cinnamon

2 T butter

1/2 c nuts

In buttered 8x8" pan spread 1/2 of dough (not easy!).

Then sprinkle 1/2 of streusel on top. Spread rest of

dough on top & then rest of streusel. Bake 25-30 #

at 350 deg..

Cheese Crackers -------Adenia

1 1/2 c flour

1/4 c butter

1 pkg. Coon (bk. wrapper) cheese--that's sharp cheddar

1/4 t salt

1/2 c milk

1/4 t red pepper

2 sticks oleo

Roll all in balls. Push down with a fork.

Bake 10 # at 350 deg.

Margaret's first words were in Spanish. Rafaela the nurse maid would sit beside her in her high chair and say "Doude esta el pajarito?" (Where is the parrot?) and then point to the ceiling and say "Ay esta" (There it is.) Margaret soon caught on, so her first spoken words were "Ay esta!"
